The Army has arrested a wanted Boko Haram member, Babagana Abubakar (aka Alagarno) at Bulabulim Ngarnam community on the outskirt of Maiduguri. Army spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, in a statement on Friday, said that Abubakar was arrested in a room in a house, where he was hiding in the community. The United Nations says it has withdrawn about 260 aid workers from three local governments in Borno state over the recent resurgence of attacks by Boko Haram terrorists. In a statement on Wednesday, Samantha Newport, UN spokesperson in Nigeria, said the development has affected its humanitarian service delivery in the embattled region.. The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General Yusuf Buratai, was at the battlefield to provide direction and boost the morale of fighting soldiers as the military launched a grand air and ground offensive against terrorists in Borno State Monday. Suspected Boko Haram fighters who invaded Buni- Gari, a town in Yobe state, got more than they bargained for when some hunters engaged them in a fierce battle on Sunday. A resident of the town who disclosed this to TheCable said the insurgents struck around 5pm. He said though soldiers were not on ground when the attack was launched, the hunters succeeded in forcing the insurgents to beat a retreat.
